Never Grow Up: A Return to Form for Bella Vista Homecoming

Never grow up was a success in the books. Now an actual normal year of the typical homecoming , bell vistas returned to the big gym and no COVID restrictions but not limited to other redirections (high heels, dirty dancing, etc.)

However, it was the first official year back to normal, thus a huge amount of attendance. Music filled the room, little shots of food in cups, crowds of people. Fire-like emblems hung on the walls. Music got people to jump and dance, old 2000 throwbacks were a sensation.

Although it was one night, some may testify homecoming was a build up. The night rally which had to take another long absence due to COVID. Black out football game to round up the school to unite with Bronco spirit and the week-long spirit dress up week.

On homecoming night, it’s the last showdown. Getting ready, pictures, dinner, all fun in anticipation but the dance? A different story. Freshman Maya Zimmerman said, “I thought that hoco was pretty fun but it was also kind of boring. There wasn’t that much stuff to do. Dancing was fun but it got kind of boring after a while.”

However, senior Bode Briseno stated “I had a good time and it was a perfect final HOCO experience.” Junior Bryce Wallis also agreed it was a great night. It was “a magnificent night, one where I was surrounded by friends, happiness, and loud music.”

People did mirror the same feelings about the long lines, it did take awhile to get on, but once inside it was worth it but senior transferee, Anushka Ayyagari somewhat disagrees. “It was ok, would be better if it didn’t take an hour to get in and had a new DJ, 100% not worth the money.”

Homecoming 2022: Never Grow Up was a reminiscent night of the past yet a way to enjoy the present life of being a teenager.
