One of the most acclaimed groups on Bella Vista's campus can be found every day studying in C9. The Academic Decathlon Team is comprised of 9 BV students ranging across various grades, GPAs, and backgrounds, assembled to study 10 subjects centered around an annual theme. Bella Vista's team has won 26 of the 42 Sacramento County held competitions, and have been invited to the state competition 32 times. After a difficult battle for the top against Vista Del Lago High School and the 1st place Folsom High School, BV is ready to kick things into gear and bring back the trophy to Fair Oaks in February 2023. On December 10th, Bella Vista placed a comfortable 2nd in the Capital Region Scrimmage, but a tough road ahead to beat Folsom, a staggering 31 medal placements compared to BV's 10. Decathlete, Co-Captain, and current writer of this article Eddie Wokas was able to interview Co-Captain Navya Alqarwani about the drive and hard work the team has accomplished, and how this is only the beginning.
